Reviews Of Pocket Size Cameras to Read before Shopping

The pocket size camera industry is one area within the consumer electronics community that keeps growing rapidly. You can probably guess that there is a lot of competition among the many manufacturers of this device. The greater amount of competition is good news for you as a consumer. This competition drives the technology forward developing new features and innovations. Now is a great time to explore new technology and advanced features you may want to look for in your pocket size cameras.
For those who favor high quality images taken indoors without a flash, the Canon PowerShot S90 is a terrific camera. Many camera makers create a line of cameras that have some specific strong point or feature. In this case, S90 does well in low light conditions because of its wide angle lens and ability to capture subtle details. You can also use the large display for viewing your pictures.

This camera is also great for people who like to have more control over their photographic compositions. You have manual control of aperture, sensitivity, and the shutter speed. In addition to all that, this camera also has an easy to use interface.

The next camera we'll be looking at is the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 which is built for the outdoors.

It's rated waterproof meaning it can go underwater up to a little over 30 feet. This ultra compact camera lives up to its name of tough. It has the standard LCD display, zoom, and built in flash, and has 14 megapixels of resolution, which can be considered overkill. But the market for this camera is most likely those that love the rugged outdoors and who need a camera that can take some punishment from the elements. In addition to being waterproof, it's also supposed to be able to withstand a six foot drop. It's also reported to be freeze and crush proof. Now, that's tough!

For a less specialized application, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is a great camera. It lacks jpeg processing ability, but you won't be disappointed with your photos. This 10.1 megapixel pocket sized camera has a 3 inch TFT LCD display. The LX5 is the follow up to the super successful DMC-LX3. Panasonic had to work hard to improve upon the LX3.

The improvements are not that massive, in our opinion. There is about a 30% increase in the sensitivity of the LX5 sensor. The LX5 also use a higher index for color rendering on the LCD, in addition to the LED back lighting for improved color. And there are a few of the lower end pocket size cameras. If you've never used a digital ultra-compact camera, these would be good ones to test out. They produce decent pictures and are reasonably priced.
